VICTORIA DOYLE STATEMENT ON THE US SUPREME COURT ENDING TEMPORARY PROTECTED STATUS (TPS) FOR HAITIANS

LAKE WORTH BEACH — Today, the US Supreme Court ended Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Haitians and others living in the US as they seek to escape dangerous and life-threatening conditions in their home countries. Attorney, activist and CD-23 congressional candidate Victoria Doyle issued the following statement:

"The Supreme Court today wrote death sentences for thousands of Haitians granted Temporary Protected Status (TPS) who have been living in the US. They came here fleeing violence, poverty, sexual assault, and political chaos that threatened their lives and their well-being. The lack of humanity in this decision is glaring.

"This decision bolsters the Trump administration's views on who is worthy to be in this country. The indifference to the suffering of Black people seeking a better life for themselves in the US is appalling. Both Democratic and Republican presidents have supported TPS since the program was created in 1990. Only one president, supported by his lackeys on the Supreme Court, is using TPS as a weapon.

"It's time for change. It's time to stand with those seeking hope and a better life, and all that the United States can give them. I support TPS for our Haitian neighbors and will continue to fight for them in Congress.
